Project Management by shavandi.com

What is Project Management?

Project management is the practice of initiating, planning, executing, controlling, and closing the work of a team to achieve specific goals and meet specific success criteria at the specified time.

Project management involves planning and organization of a company's resources to move a specific task, event, or duty towards completion. It typically involves a one-time project rather than an ongoing activity, and resources managed include personnel, finances, technology, and intellectual property. A project manager helps to define the goals and objectives of the project and determines when the various project components are to be completed and by whom; s/he also creates quality control checks to ensure completed components meet a certain standard.

Breaking Down Project Management

Generally speaking, the project management process includes the following stages: planning, initiation, execution, monitoring, and closing. Different industries have also developed specialized project management templates that are specific to the unique needs of their respective fields. The templates make project planning efficient and easily repeatable from one set of deliverables to the next. For example, IT project management specializes in facilitating the process of delivering technical products that pass through several life-cycle stages including development, testing, and deployment.

What Does a Project Manager Do?

For many people, the title of project manager does not really mean much. It may seem like a fluffy title for sitting and supervising. While supervision is one important part of the job, a lot more goes into project management than just watching everyone work.

Project management is often associated with fields in engineering and construction and, more lately, health care and information technology (IT), which typically have a complex set of components that have to be completed and assembled in a set fashion to create a functioning product. But no matter what the industry is, the project manager tends to have roughly the same job.

A Project Manager Plans:

From start to finish, every project needs a plan that outlines how things will get off the ground, how they will be built and how they will finish. For example, in architecture, the plan starts with an idea, progresses to drawings and moves on to blueprint drafting, with thousands of little pieces coming together between each step. The architect is just one person providing one piece of the puzzle. The project manager puts it all together.

A Project Manager Facilitates:

When there is a large team working on a single project, communication can quickly break down. This especially holds true when some parts of the job are outsourced. For instance, if you want to start a company that sells widgets online, you need to build a website, get your marketing tools together, talk to suppliers, find a sales crew and have someone in charge of shipping. As a small business, you would not have all of that done in-house, so you act as the project manager to bring all the pieces of the crew together and facilitate cooperation and collaboration. (For more, read How Agile Project Management Works.)

A Project Manager Does PR:

Public relations (PR) is a huge part of any business. It’s not enough to only make sure that the company has a favorable view in the eyes of the public; internal public relations aims to ensure that the head of the company knows what is going on and holds a favorable view of the department. The project manager is in charge of making sure that the higher-ups are kept in the loop and know what is taking place.

A Project Manager Closes:

Every project has a budget and a time frame. Blow either of those, and the whole project may be lost. The project manager makes sure to keep everything moving smoothly, on time and on budget. That means when the planned time frame is coming to an end, the manager can keep all the team members working on the project to finish on schedule.

An Example of a Project Manager's Responsibilities

Let's say a project manager is tasked with leading a team to develop software products. S/he begins by identifying the scope of the project. Then s/he assigns tasks to the project team, which can include developers, engineers, technical writers and quality assurance specialists. The project manager creates a schedule and sets deadlines. Often s/he uses visual representations of workflow, such as Gantt charts and PERT charts, to determine which tasks are to be completed by which departments. S/he sets a budget that includes sufficient funds to keep the project within budget even in the face of unexpected contingencies. The project manager also makes sure the team has the resources it needs to build, test and deploy a software product.

When a large IT company, such as Cisco Systems Inc., acquires smaller companies, a key part of the project manager's job is to integrate project team members from various backgrounds and instill a sense of group purpose about meeting the end goal. Project managers may have some technical know-how but also have the important task of taking high-level corporate visions and delivering tangible results on time and within budget.

Obviously, a project manager must have pristine organizational and time-management skills. But while attention to detail is key, he or she must also be able to visualize a project in its entirety to ensure that it comes together properly. A good project manager is a powerful leader in any circumstance, adept at interpersonal skills and thinking quickly, and able to devise creative solutions to problems.

Agile Project Management

The computer software industry was one of the first to use a particular methodology called agile project management. With the basis originating in the twelve core principles of the Agile Manifesto, agile project management is an iterative process focused on the continuous monitoring and improvement of deliverables. At its core, high quality deliverables are a result of providing customer value, team interactions and adapting to current business circumstances. Unlike Waterfall project management, a more traditional method, agile project management does not follow a sequential stage-by-stage approach. Instead, phases of the project are completed in parallel to each other by various team members in an organization. This approach can find and rectify any errors in the project without having to restart the entire procedure.

Agile project management provides more flexibility in error detection throughout project stages, resulting in consistently fewer errors than Waterfall, which can only test bugs during developmental stages. In software development, agile approaches are typically used to help businesses respond to unpredictability. Within the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), team members are involved in the requirement, design, development and testing phases. Most importantly, agile techniques involve the regular overview of task efficiency in order for team members to adjust behaviors and procedures accordingly.

Agile Project Management Tools

Agile project management uses a set of narrow-focused tools.

  • Scrum methods focus on the empirical feedback loops to adapt to the complexity and unpredictability typically found in software development. Decision making is based on observed results following short intervals known as sprints. During each sprint, a tested product is kept in a ready-to-ship state at all times. As a whole, a scrum is a set of roles, responsibilities and feedback that remains consistent throughout the project. Removing predictable errors in the process allows businesses to easily learn and adapt to future errors. Product owners, team and scrum masters are integral to the scrum’s success. The product owner is responsible for overseeing, communicating and building the vision for the project. The team is responsible for meeting the goals of each sprint in an autonomous fashion. Working with the product owner and team, the scrum master facilitates the completion of goals by removing any impediments.
  • Lean methodology focuses primarily on the continuous improvement of processes through waste elimination. Waste is the root of unprofitable activity and consists of defects, overproduction, transportation, waiting, inventory, motion and processing.  By getting rid of waste, organizations can improve their value stream and effectively deliver increasing value to their customers; ultimately, customer value is created through processes with zero waste. With continuous improvements throughout the process, errors in project deliverables are effectively minimized. Individuals who meet certain criteria can become Lean Six Sigma certified, thus, validating their knowledge and application of lean methodology in business practices.

Zara Agile Supply Chain

Applications of agile project management are not limited to the IT industry. Apparel retailer Zara has used an agile model to transform itself into one of the world’s most valuable chains. Instead of relying on outside production, processes such as design, manufacturing and warehousing remain internal. Designers and product managers are responsible for the initial orders and in-season responses. Rather than focusing on large production runs prior to a new season, Zara manufactures clothing in small batches. Consequently, the company avoids high inventory and profit-eroding markdowns.

Thanks to internal agility, the company can deliver new product to stores in as little as 15 days. Following basic agile principles enables Zara to focus on creating customer value, self-organizing teams and short-cycle but high-quality deliverables.

Agile Pros and Cons

Agile Project Management can reduce error-related costs through continuous improvement and changes within the planning cycle. Through constant team interaction at short intervals, mistakes can be quickly detected, eliminating the need to restart projects. As a result, any repeated work that is necessary does not hurt the organization as much as it would have otherwise. Likewise, agile methodology helps ensure end products most effectively meet customer needs.

While agile processes have tremendous upside, this process isn’t fit for all organizations. Agility is contingent on highly skilled team members who can collaborate but also work autonomously. Any holes amongst the team can prove costly and time-consuming for organizations. For example, agile methods would not be suitable for the construction industry, due to its lack of iterative deliverables.

Website vs Social Media shavandi.com`

Website vs Social Media

Why Your Business Needs a Website?
Ever ask yourself, “why do I need a website when I can just use social media to promote my business?” It’s a great question that we get asked more often than you’d imagine – “website vs social media“, which is best for you?
Why would you want to build a website that has numerous costs (domains, hosting, designers, SEO, updates, maintenance, and more), when you could just setup social media pages for your business on sites like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and Instagram … for FREE?
Website vs Social Media:

The Benefits of Social Media for Small Business:

When it comes to social media, besides being “FREE” to get a business page setup, there are also millions of people on the platform looking to interact with you. When used correctly, this allows you to grow a following faster than you could elsewhere.
Here are some of the benefits that small businesses get from using social media for their business:
Requires Little-to-No Technical Expertise
Most of the platforms are easy to use, requiring no technical expertise. When creating a business page there are straight forward forms to fill out that ask for all of your vital business information in an organized and easy to follow manner.
Don’t know how to code? No problem. Just type your information in the boxes, upload some images, and you’re done.

Optimized for Search Engines; Due to the number of pages, the high amount of shared content, and the popularity of these sites, your Business Page on popular social media platforms are search engine optimized out of the box so your page shows up high in search rankings when someone’s searching for you business.

See this example of what happens when we search for our business. Our website shows up in the #1 spot but two social media sites show up on the first page, as well. We highlighted Facebook in the #2 spot to demonstrate the point.

Website vs Social Media at shavandi.com

Facebook page ranking spot #2 on Google search for “conversion strategies inc”Marketing Tools & Integrations
Most social media platforms (especially the big ones like Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Google+, Pinterest, and Instagram) also have great marketing capabilities and integrations. You can build your email list, raise money, sell products and a lot more from the tabs on your Facebook page.
Most platforms have similar capabilities and the analytics of each platform continue to improve allowing you to track what visitors are doing on your pages, what content they like, and how many people your content is reaching. This allows you to quickly and easily know what works and what doesn’t.
What You Need to Know Before Building a Website for Your Business

Having a website built for your business is very different from the points made above, especially when it comes to cost. When done professionally, a website is going to cost more than setting up free social media pages, but the differences don’t stop there. Here are some things you’ll need to do to build a website for your local business:
Purchase a Domain & Get Website Hosting
To get started, you have to pay recurring costs for your domain and website hosting. The domain is the “address” where you’ll build your website (ex: “yourbusiness.com”). Website hosting is the server space (i.e. the “land”) where your website will live.
Design, Development, & Technical Expertise
Since most small business owners don’t double as website designers, you’re probably going to have to hire a web designer to design, build, and occasionally update the website for you.
Even these “free” and “drag and drop” website builders require some technical and design expertise to end up with a site you can be happy about and proud to show off.
Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
If you want your website to rank well in search engines for certain keywords, like your business name, it will require an understanding of some basic on-page SEO. If you don’t know anything about SEO then you might consider paying someone to help you with that.
This is just the beginning of what it will cost to have a website, which is why so many people turn to social media. So, why even build a website for your business when you could use these free social media platforms to market your business online?
The answer… with a website you are 100% control.
Website vs Social Media: Why Your Business Needs a Website
Be a Control Freak: You Need to Be in 100% Control of Your Online Presence
As a business owner, would you rather:
A) Set up shop in someone else’s store (without a lease) OR
B) Own or lease a dedicated space for your business?
With the first option, you’re at the mercy of the store owner. If they don’t want your business in their store anymore, then you’re now out of business until you find a new location. If they decide not to open up one morning, your business can’t reach it’s customers and your revenue will be affected.
However, if you own or lease then you have much more control over your situation. The changes in someone else’s business won’t affect whether you stay in business or how much it will cost to stay in business. The same is true for having a website that you control, rather than building your online presence solely on a social media platform.
Don’t Be at the Mercy of Someone Else
If you setup shop solely on one or more social platforms, your business is ultimately at the mercy of those platforms. They can make changes whenever they want and you don’t have a voice, even if it impacts your business. If that platform gets acquired and changed or shut down, you may no longer be able to reach your customers.
A great example of this is when many business pages were recently hurt when Facebook updated it’s algorithm, decreasing the reach of business pages. There was nothing business’s could do except complain. At the end of the day they had to accept the new rules and move forward or move on.
The same thing could happen on another social platform at any time. YouTube could start charging you to store videos on their servers. Twitter could decide to become a premium platform where business’s have to “pay to play”. In either of these circumstances if you don’t pay then you no longer get to communicate with your customers.
You have NO control on these social platforms.
Your Website is the “Hub” of Your Online Presence – Social Media is a Marketing Tool
If you have your own website, and it’s the “hub” of your business, then you have 100% control of your situation.
Like the store analogy above, you can have your own store and still setup a rack of your items in someone else’s store. Why wouldn’t you? Especially if they offer the space for free. Not only do you control your store, you also get to use someone else’s space to market your items and make some sales. If they close down then you might lose a great marketing space, but you aren’t out of business.
This is how you should treat social media.
Use social media as a marketing platform to drive traffic back to your website. Use that traffic to grow your email and customer list so you can communicate with them any time, any where. On your own terms.
At the end of the day, it’s much smarter to invest in something you own than to build on land that doesn’t belong to you. Some day the rules are going to change and it could have a major impact on your business, if you aren’t in control. This is why we highly recommend to our client’s that they invest in a website that they own and then use social media – and it’s many benefits – to reach new audiences and grow their business.

Movie Genre or Theme at shavandi.com

Genre or Theme

Genre is a category of film or literature characterized by a particular style, form, or content.

Throughout several movies, you see similarities in story, narrative, settings, or plot. Listed are examples.

  • Thrillers usually rely on suspense and has an exciting plot.
  • Science-fiction relies on futuristic technology, space exploration, future  social changes, aliens, super-powers, overlap with superhero genre, etc.
  • Crime/mystery relies on a crime being solved or focus on the lives of police detectives or the criminals they pursue.

Theme is a central idea in a piece of writing or other work of art. For example in Coraline, the main themes I believe Neil Gaiman wanted to put forward were dissatisfaction and identity. There's also the element of "Be careful what you wish for" as well.

Coraline was very dissatisfied with her life which is why she went into the Other World. While there though, she had to have had a strong identity to preserve especially when going through the challenges against the Other Mother.

For themes, they would be:

  1. Family - Coraline's parents are really busy and tend to ignore her; she's often left alone to entertain herself and even take care of herself.  But then Coraline discovers an alternate set of parents who pay her tons of attention and cook her delicious food. Sounds like a good trade, right? Well, Coraline quickly figures out that it's a rotten deal. Her own parents might have their flaws, but they're still her parents. And Coraline loves them enough to fight hard to get them back from the cruel other mother. Coraline teaches us that, when it comes down to it, family is irreplaceable.
  2. Courage - Coraline is up there with the most courageous kids of all time. As she explains, what really makes you brave is doing something even when you're scared. In Coraline, our heroine has a special kind of courage, fighting back against the other mother totally alone. In the end, her courage gives her more confidence, which of course will mean even more courage in the future.
  3. Fear - The stuff Coraline goes through to rescue the ghost children and her parents gives us nightmares. Coraline herself gets scared – a lot, actually – but she manages to deal with her fear very well and always keeps on keepin' on. Usually, she pumps herself up with little pep talks. She reminds herself that she's brave, that she's an explorer, and that she can't give up.
  4. Home - At the beginning of Coraline, our heroine is bored at home: her parents are too busy for her, the place she lives is dull, and she has exhausted all the exploring there is to do. It takes being in a crazy and super scary alternate world to make Coraline realize just how much she appreciates her real home. The real world might be dull sometimes, but it's home for Coraline. This is a common trope in literature and film. "There's no place like home..."
  5. Versions of Reality - The other world in Coraline is a strange version of that reality that Coraline knows well. It has the same people, the same house, and the same garden; but something's just not quite right. This world seems so much like reality precisely because it was custom made to be that way. Luckily, Coraline is pretty discerning: she knows that if something seems like reality, but just the best version of it, it's probably too good to be true. This knowledge allows her to see what a sham, or fake, the other world really is. But there's something more to think about: if the other world really exists, isn't a reality in itself? Is it the other mother's reality? Or reality for the three ghost children?
  6. Identity - When you're totally on your own – like Coraline is – you need to have a super strong sense of self to get you through things. In Coraline, our heroine doesn't have friends or family to rely on, so she learns this lesson pretty quickly. She doesn't need other people to know her in order to know herself: even if everyone forgets her name, it doesn't mean she isn't Coraline. And of course, other people's identities become an issue for Coraline, too. Who is the other mother? What is the other mother's identity in relation to Coraline's real mother's identity? And the three ghost children? Can they have identities if they don't even have names? Coraline is struggling with all of these questions, all the while trying to save the day.
  7. Dissatisfaction - Boredom and dissatisfaction are great ways to start off a story. Dissatisfaction often leads people to look for something to do, and that something often gets them into serious trouble. Coraline starts off feeling ignored and lonely. So when a weird hallway appears behind a mysterious door, Coraline take the opportunity to cause some trouble. She's curious and fascinated by the other world, but she also quickly realizes she wants to go home. After surviving a very scary adventure, Coraline seems cured of her dissatisfaction: it turns out excitement and adventure can be a bit over-rated.
  8. Choices - Choices are really important in Coraline. After all, Coraline makes some pretty big decisions in the story, and a lot of small ones, too (like what to have for dinner!). Her first, and most important decision is one that changes the entire story: she chooses not to stay in the other world after her first visit. If she hadn't made that choice, she would have been in deep trouble and we wouldn't have had our story. Coraline always seems to have a choice in the matter: she doesn't have to save her parents or the other children, but she chooses to. Even though Coraline doesn't have total control over the situation, she does decide to be brave and at least give it a shot. And it turns out she made the right choice.
Pain at shavandi.com

Pain

Pain, a simple word contenting only four letters, as I star in cliche, it’s running from all cliche, all the time it appears in a different clothing, but deep in heart you know that the story is the same, running, hiding, keeping in mind that there is nothing worthy of these tears, but aging, they keep coming, what can I do?!

Who else should understand me if he doesn’t, the time, that you are looking back, is he?!

No he isn’t!

There is a voice always shaking my body and brain, ONE DAY!

But he knows how many days should be passed till reach that day when nothing is left out of everything, the day that you he isn’t worthy, but wait, maybe, maybe,

There is doubt,  believe in what I’m doing,  trust my feelings, it isn’t wrong, let’s look back to all the moments which are past, the past, I know that love him, he also is sure about the feeling, but what went wrong?

Let’s see, no more pain, the voice which is ringing in my head, he s chosen, and I’m chosen, let’s be in hands in hands and prove to all the world that we are made for each other, we will.

He had his pain and I had my share. No more step back, going forward to forget that this word ever existed.
